Who we are
Who we are

A church for real people.

A church for real people.

We are The Salvation Army Oakville Community Church — a community of ordinary people who believe in something bigger than themselves. We don’t have it all together. We’re not a performance. We’re just people who show up every Sunday to connect, grow, and support one another.

Whether this is your first time in a church or you’ve spent years in one, whether you’re certain in your faith or full of questions — you will find a genuine welcome here. Not the polished, plastic kind. The real kind.

What to expect

Your Sunday, step by step

Tap any moment to learn more. The whole service runs about 60 minutes.

🚗
From 10:00 AM
Doors open at 10:00 AM — half an hour before the service starts. We reserve parking spots at the front specifically for first-time visitors. Accessible disability parking is available right at the building entrance. Our volunteers will greet you and help you find your feet.
10:00 – 10:30 AM
Grab a free coffee in the lobby and take your time. No rush, no agenda. It's a genuinely warm space — people chatting, kids running around, volunteers ready to answer any questions. If you're nervous, this is the best place to breathe and settle in before the service begins.
📣
10:30 AM
The service kicks off with a brief welcome and a few key announcements about what's happening in the community. Short, focused, and a great time to hear about upcoming events and ways to get involved.
🎵
~10:35 AM
We sing together — usually 4–5 songs, a mix of contemporary worship and timeless hymns. Lyrics are projected. You're welcome to sing along, stand, sit, or simply listen. There's no expectation.
🙏
~10:50 AM
A time for collective prayer and a Scripture passage read aloud. You don't need to participate. It's a quiet, reflective moment before the message — eyes open or closed, whatever feels natural.
🧒
10:45 AM
Children in Grades 1–6 are invited to head to the Acorns programme — a fun, interactive kids session running until 11:30 AM. Trained volunteers lead crafts, Bible stories, games, and snacks in a safe, dedicated space.
📖
~11:00 AM
Our lead pastor shares a 30-minute message rooted in Scripture with practical application to everyday life. It's conversational, honest, and designed for anyone — whether you've been in church your whole life or it's your first Sunday.
🤗
~11:30 AM
When the service wraps up, we hang around. Coffee, conversation, and no rush to leave. Pastors and volunteers are around to say hello, answer questions, or just have a chat. No agenda — just community.

People you’ll actually meet on Sunday

One of the most nerve-wracking things about visiting a new church is not knowing anyone. These are the faces you’ll see at the door.

Fun fact: Marilyn brings wisdom to the church, cheers loudly for the Blue Jays, and never misses a chance to spoil her grandkids.

Kids & Youth

Your kids will love it.

We know that one of the biggest questions for visiting families is: what happens to my children during the service? The short answer — something genuinely good. Our youth programmes are safe, fun, and led by trained, caring volunteers.
