Our Beliefs

Our mission at The Salvation Army is to give hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada and in 131 countries. The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.

Our vision is to share hope, wherever there is hardship and to build communities that are just and that know the love of Jesus.

Our Core Values

Hope

We give hope through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Services

We reach out to support others without discrimination.

Dignity

We respect and value each other, recognizing everyone’s worth

Stewardship

We responsibly manage the resources entrusted to us.

Our core values of our faith community

We believe that everyone belongs in our community, and we should make every effort to make people feel safe here (Matt 22:8-10).

We believe that Jesus gave His life to free us all from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own People. (Titus 2:14)

And finally, we believe that there must be absolutely no obligations for a person to Belong to our community. You don’t have to look like us, act like us or love like us to be loved and accepted here (Matt 22:8-10; Doctrine 6).

We believe that Hope in Jesus Christ is the key to Purpose and Meaning in our lives (Psalm 57:2), and that can be attained by Faith alone in Jesus, by Gods’ Grace (Salvation Army Doctrine #8 paraphrased).

We believe that salvation is a gift from God, making us New People in Christ, so we can do the things He planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

It is, then, our Hope that our community expresses this Faith in such a way that all will want to take hold of it and learn for themselves (Psalm 34:8)

We believe that at the first moment of Faith in Christ the journey of Becoming the person God has always intended, has begun, and will continue until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns (Philippians 1:6).

We believe that the work of Jesus Christ at the Cross allows us to leave the hurts and brokenness of the past giving us the Freedom and Hope to change our lives for the better (1 John 1:9; Philippians 3:12).

We believe that because of our faith in Christ and Adoption into God’s family, we become and continue to be very dear to and deeply loved by God. As a result, we can show others the goodness of God, for he Called us out of the darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

We believe that God loves changing lives for the better, and as we walk with Him, He brings new possibilities and opportunities to be Blessed and be a Blessing (Isaiah 43:19)!

Everyone is Welcome at the Salvation Army
